Netflix announced a new version of its random content generation button titled the ‘Netflix Mystery Box.’ The mystery box appears in the center of the top row on the recommended section. This is the row of five shows that the platform believes the current user would enjoy. The mystery box is intended for children to use in order to discover new TV shows based on their previous watch patterns and interests.
When clicking on the mystery box, Netflix will stream a new children’s TV series to the user. This feature was released in an effort to expose children to a wider array of content. Many children repeat watching the same television series repeatedly as they are familiar with it, so this feature aims to familiarize the users with more content.
