MediaTek Filogic 880 and 380 Wi-Fi 7 platforms announced

MediaTek unveiled the Filogic 880 and Filogic 380 Wi-Fi 7 platform solutions for high-bandwidth operator, retail, and enterprise applications, including consumer electronics. These chips will be among the first Wi-Fi 7 solutions on the market, offering device makers the ability to leverage cutting-edge devices with the latest networking technologies. The company also introduced Dimensity 1050, Dimensity 930 and Helio G99 SoCs today.

The Filogic 880 is a 6nm chipset (SoC) that offers a consistent platform for optimum Wi-Fi and Ethernet, including packet processing performance. This platform is made up of a Wi-Fi 7 access point, a smart application processor, and a network processing unit (NPU).

MediaTek Filogic 380 single-chip Wi-Fi 7 platform:

In contrast, the Filogic 380 is a 6nm chip designed to deliver Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.3 connections to consumer gadgets, such as smartphones, tablets, TVs, notebooks, set-top boxes, as well as OTT streaming sticks. Its dual concurrent 22 capabilities are optimized out of the box for these devices because MediaTek also provides the relevant platform solutions.

  • Support for dual 2×2 radios for dual-band simultaneous operation
  • Latest Bluetooth 5.3 with LE Audio

MediaTek accomplished the Wi-Fi 7 standard and was one of the first to implement it. Wi-Fi 7 will be the backbone of networks in homes, offices, and factories. It will make it easy to connect to AR/VR, cloud gaming, 4K calls, 8K streaming, and other services.

In addition, MediaTek will demonstrate its Filogic Wi-Fi 7 platform solutions for access points as well as client ecosystems at Computex 2022, which will be hosted in Taipei, Taiwan from May 24 to May 27.
